Prague, June 26 (CTK) – Sociologist Petr Hampl was elected leader of the new party Alternative for the Czech Republic 2017 (ACR) at its constituent national congress on Sunday.

Political writer Petr Stepanek was elected its first deputy chairman.

The party was formed from the group of some members of the former Bloc Against Islam.

The conference assigned Hampl to write a detailed political and election manifesto.

The ACR wants to stop multiculturalism and Islamisation of Europe and transform the EU back into the former European Community.

“If this is impossible, then Czexit should follow,” the party’s senior officials said.

They stressed in the basic programme principles that they wanted to simplify the tax system, to reduce useless regulation and legislation, to “cut off” political NGOs from public budgets, to cancel fees for public broadcasters and “to reprieve” the public media.

The congress also supported former president Vaclav Klaus in his efforts to form a continental Alternative for Europe, an umbrella organisation for similarly focused European parties.

The ACR would like to join such a pan-European movement.
