Prague, Aug 26 (CTK) – The ANO movement and the Social Democrats (CSSD) would win elections to the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of Czech parliament, gaining 21.6 percent of the vote each, according to a poll of the ppm factum agency that was released to CTK Wednesday.

The CSSD and ANO are partners in the current government coalition that also comprises the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL).

Compared with the March poll, the CSSD has improved its position by 2 percentage points, while support for ANO has almost not changed.

Four other parties would cross the 5-percent parliamentary threshold: the opposition Communists (KSCM), TOP 09 and the Civic Democrats (ODS) and the KDU-CSL.

The CSSD has caught up with the most popular ANO for the first time since last February.

The KSCM would finish third with 14.6 percent of the vote, followed by TOP 09 (10.5 percent), the KDU-CSL (6.5 percent) and the ODS (6.4 percent).

“The KSCM and KDU-CSL have slightly lost support since the previous poll, while TOP 09 has strengthened its position a bit and the ODS’s position remains unchanged,” the pollsters said .

The Greens and the Czech Pirate Party (CPS) would end closely under the 5-percent limit.

The current opposition Dawn of Direct Democracy would not enter the lower house with merely 2.4 percent of the vote.

The Eurosceptic Free Citizens, the extremist Workers’ Party of Social Justice (DSSS) and the Citizens’ Rights Party (SPOZ) would reach similar results as Dawn.

According to the election model from March, 18.8 percent of voters would support parties that would not enter the Chamber of Deputies, the agency said.

Now, ANO and the CSSD would win 58 mandates each in the 200-seat lower house, the KSCM would get 35 mandates, TOP 09 24 mandates, the KDU-CSL 14 and the ODS 11.

If ANO, the CSSD and the KDU-CSL formed a coalition again after the election, they would have a comfortable majority of 130 mandates.

Election turnout would be 48 percent, while 59.5 percent took part in the previous early general election in 2013.

The poll was conducted on a sample of 924 respondents on August 13-23.
