Prague, Oct 15 (CTK) - Scottish classical music composer Geraldine Mucha, wife of Czech writer Jiri Mucha who was the son of Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha, died on October 12 at the age of 95, Simona Kordova, from the Mucha Foundation, told CTK yesterday.
Geraldine Mucha was born in London in 1917. She met Jiri Mucha during World War Two and moved with him to Prague in 1945.
In the communist Czechoslovakia, she also worked as a translator and a member of a music publishing company.
After the communist authorities did not allow her husband to go abroad and organise exhibitions of his father's works in the 1970s, she moved to Britain to enable him to travel as he had the right to visit his wife.
Geraldine Mucha returned to Prague after the 1989 Velvet Revolution. In 1991, Jiri Mucha died. In 1992, she and her son John founded the Mucha Foundation.
The last farewell with Geraldine Mucha will be held at 14:00 on October 22 in the Prague-Strasnice crematorium.
