Kladno, Central Bohemia, July 30 (CTK) – A Czech court sentenced former judge Ondrej Havlin to 6.5 years in prison for corruption and it imposed a fine of 350,000 crowns on him Thursday.
Havlin unlawfully influenced proceedings with crime perpetrators in exchange for bribes.
He was sentenced for bribe taking, bribe giving, abuse of power and illegal arms possession.
Havlin did not take part in the trial for health reasons and he did not testify before court.
State attorney Frantisek Fiala, lawyer Karel Matejka, former police inspector Boris Stefl and three other men have been charged within the case, too. They received unconditional or suspended sentences.
