Rolando Villazón, 13th April 2012, Smetana Hall of the Municipal House

The world renown Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón through his uniquely compelling performances with leading opera houses around the world has firmly established himself as one of the music world’s critically acclaimed and beloved stars and as one of the leading tenors of our days. The charismatic singer will return to Prague he fell in love with in a program of the most famous romantic music from Gioacchino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini and Giuseppe Verdi and opera arias of Italian bel-canto. He will be accompanied by Nuovo Mundo Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Guerassim Voronkov.

Lawrence Brownlee, 18th June 2012, Smetana Hall of the Municipal House

American tenor Lawrence Brownlee joined roasters of the best Italian bel-canto singers rather recently, yet, due do his professional debut (Almaviva at Rossini’s Barbier of Siviglia, Virginia in 2002) it was a very quick start. Almaviva is one of his signature roles. Following his triumphant MET debut (26th April 2007) he sang the role at the Vienna State Opera, Washington National Opera, German Opera in Berlin, Teatro Real in Madrid as well as La Scala in Milan. He also gained renown as an exceptional interpret of Donizetti’s characters (e.g. Tonio in La fille du regiment which he also sings at the MET this season) and Bellini’s characters (e.g. Arturo in I Puritani). He was first seen at the Live from the MET broadcasts in 2009 (Don Ramiro in Rossini’s Cenerentola) as well as in the following year (Rinaldo in Rossini‘s Armida), both to a great success. For his Prague concert, the singer chose arias of his signature opera characters which enchanted audiences all over Europe and the US. Mr. Brownlee’s tour is organized by Kapos s. r. o. and House of Music Košice – Bratislava – Praha .

Elīna Garanča, 25. 9. 2012, Smetana Hall of the Municipal House

One of the most remarkable artists of today’s world-opera scene, Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča will perform in Prague for the third time in September 2012. Both of her Prague concerts (2007 and 2010) were exceptional musical events. This time she will introduce herself in a program titled “Love and Despair“ which consists of Russian, French and Italian music. Repertoire of the concerts is also her new project for Deutsche Grammophon. Her stage partners will be Prague Philharmonia and conductor Karel Mark Chicon.

Ildebrando D´Arcangelo, 23. 10. 2012, Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum

The charismatic Italian bass-baritone Ildebrando D´Arcangelo gained his recognition as a great Mozart singer. His current home scenes are all front opera houses including La Scala, Vienna State Opera and the Metropolitan Opera New York. Ten years ago he introduced himself in Prague’s Estate Theatre in one of his signature roles – Don Giovanni. In October 2012 he will make his Prague concert debut at the Dvorak Hall of the Rudolfinum, along with the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Jakub Hrůša.
