Olomouc, North Moravia, Feb 14 (CTK) – The Olomouc Charity organisation will open a touring exhibition of photographs by Romani children entitled “My Everyday Life” on Monday, Vojtech Petros, from Olomouc Charity, has told CTK.

The display of 59 photographs, depicting moments from the everyday life of Romani children in their typical environment, will be gradually presented in three different venues in Olomouc, including the library of Palacky University, until April 29.

“We have held two courses in which the children learnt the basic work with a camera and the photographing technique,” Adela Adamkova, project coordinator and head of the Khamoro charity centre for ethnic minorities, said.

The exhibition and the photography course for children are part of the project called “Do We Know Each Other?,” reacting to the tense atmosphere between the majority society and ethnic minorities.

Its main aim is to extend the offer of educational activities for pupils and students and help remove prejudices against the Roma minority.

“Other activities organised within the project are workshops at primary schools, debates with students at secondary schools, higher-education facilities and universities and the publication of the book (Extra) Ordinary Stories of (Extra) Ordinary Roma,” Petros said.
