Zlin, South Moravia, Nov 18 (CTK) – Tomas Bata University (UTB) will open another Bata centre at the prestigious Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), with which it cooperates, in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, university representative Jana Brazdilova told CTK Wednesday.

“The Bata centre will coordinate joint study programmes at Czech and Vietnamese universities, organise exchange stays of students and academic staff and enrolment of students at Czech universities and, above all, look for opportunities for joint Czech-Vietnamese research projects and transfer of technologies into practice,” UTB rector Petr Saha said.

The centre will serve the needs of all universities in the Czech Republic and Vietnam, Saha said.

The opening ceremony will include an exhibition of photographs depicting the life of shoe mogul Tomas Bata Junior (1914-2008).

The centre will collect documents about the work of the firm Bata in Asia.

“The documents will be digitised and serve for further research,” Brazdilova said.

UTB has been cooperating with TDTU since 2011 when their rectors signed a partnership agreement.

They hold joint international conferences, workshops and seminars, exchanging lecturers.

Vietnamese students have been studying in Zlin for a number of years, Brazdilova said. The graduates include rector of the Vietnamese Aviation Academy and director of the Institute for International Cooperation at TDTU.
