Prague, April 18 (CTK) – Czech President Milos Zeman has signed a law that introduces the European Professional Card to facilitate the recognition of the professional qualification of the foreigners who want to work in the Czech Republic.

The recognition of qualification is needed for over 300 regulated professions, mainly in the health care sector.

In 2013, more than 600 applications for the recognition of professional qualification were lodged, of which a crushing majority were met, according to data released by the government.

Out of the total number, 440 applications were lodged by foreigners with medical professions.

The European Professional Card is to be applied for and issued electronically based on the data of the European Commission’s Internal Market Information (IMI) system.

The law introduces an all-EU alert mechanism to inform the member states about the persons who are banned from selected professions.

The law also introduces new criteria for checking the Czech language knowledge of foreign medical workers and those working with children.
