“Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what you get.” – Warren Buffet
This quote always reminds me of a wonderful story about two bestselling authors, J.D. Salinger and Norman Mailer. I have no idea if it’s true or not, but the message is powerful that I know it will resonate with many of you. It may even remind you of someone you know.
Here’s how it goes. J.D. Salinger and Norman Mailer were attending a lavish party at the home of a titan of Wall Street and they stepped out on the terrace to enjoy the commanding view and opulent garden. Salinger, it’s claimed, said to Mailer, “Do you realize that our host made more money last week than you have from all your bestsellers combined?” To which Mailer replied, “That may be, but I have something he will never have. Enough.”
Till next time…
