Prague, March 1 (CTK) – The National Museum in Prague has opened an exhibition on Czech castles and chateaus in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, Kristina Kvapilova, from the museum, told CTK on Tuesday.
The project was prepared in cooperation with the Czech embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the National Heritage Institute (NPU) and supported by the Czech Culture Ministry, she added.
The exhibition was staged in Afghanistan, Bhutan, India and Nepal in the past.
Visitors to the National Museum of Malaysia can admire the beauties of the Czech Republic until March 31.
Then the display will be touring other museums in Southeastern Asia.
The exhibition presents pictures of the most interesting chateaus and castles in Bohemia and Moravia in terms of their historical importance as well as architectonic and artistic values.
It focuses on the UNESCO-listed sights, such as Prague Castle, Cesky Krumlov (south Bohemia), Kutna Hora (central Bohemia), Telc, Kromeriz and Lednice-Valtice complex of chateaus and parks (all south Moravia), as well as other significant castles, for instance, Karlstejn and Krivoklat (central Bohemia).
Visitors can also get acquainted with other localities thanks to digitised 3D models or watch the documentary film Ten Centuries of Architecture.
The National Museum would like the exhibition to raise awareness about Czech heritage sights in Malaysia, and thereby present the Czech Republic as an attractive tourist destination.
The bilateral cooperation will result in an exhibition in the Naprstek Museum of Asian, African and American Cultures in Prague in 2017. It will present the highlights from the collections of the Malaysian National Museum within the Window into the World project. More information is available on www.nm.cz.
