Prague, April 4 (CTK) – The Czech Republic could become a target country of Kuwaiti investments, this is what Marzouq Al-Ghanim, speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly told Czech Chamber of Deputies chairman Jan Hamacek during their meeting in Kuwait City, daily Pravo wrote on Monday.
Pravo writes that Kuwait has four investment funds operating mainly abroad.
Hamacek told Pravo that he and Al-Ghanim agreed that the trade balance of their countries lags behind the potential.
“The visit has confirmed that the Czech Republic has a very good name in Kuwait and they consider the Czechs their friends. This is a good basis for the development of economic cooperation,” Hamacek said.
He said Kuwait believes that the Czech Republic could play a role in tackling the Palestinian-Israeli conflict because it has good relations with both sides.
The good relations date back to the early 1990s when the military of former Czechoslovakia took part in the operation for the liberation of Kuwait invaded by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq, Pravo writes.
Czechoslovakia split into the Czech and Slovak republics as from January 1, 1993.
Al Ghanim said his as well as future generations will remember the great support they were given by the Czechs, Hamacek told Pravo.
