Prague, Dec 8 (CTK) – The ANO movement of Finance Minister Andrej Babis is not capable of coalition negotiating and all will join forces against ANO unless it learns to negotiate, Czech President Milos Zeman told Impuls Radio on Thursday.
“(The ANO movement) suffered a number of losses only due to this lack of inexperience,” Zeman said, adding that hopefully ANO will learn this in a year.
Zeman said ANO failed in negotiations about political alliances in cities and regional authorities.
He said he is a supporter of the Social Democrats (CSSD), however, he first of all likes strong and charismatic personalities who can attract attention and have a successful life story.
The wealthy businessman Babis has an ambition to be the next prime minister. One year before the next general election, all opinion polls indicate that ANO is the most successful party in the country.
Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka who is CSSD leader is considered rather non-charismatic. In late 2013, Zeman assisted in a failed attempt to remove Sobotka from the post of party leader. Zeman was CSSD prime minister in 1998-2002.
Impuls is the most popular radio in the Czech Republic and it is part of the Agrofert holding owned by Babis.
Zeman told the radio that his Christmas address will focus on the developments in the European Union, Czech foreign policy and the progress made in the relations with China.
With regard to the Czech economic growth, he said he wants to tell the citizens that there is no need to be pessimistic anymore.
