Prague, July 11 (CTK) – Czech Finance Minister Andrej Babis, ANO chairman, declared an income of 137.9 million crowns outside politics and opposition TOP 09 honorary chairman Karel Schwarzenberg 68.6 million crowns in 2015, according to the MPs’ property statements released in the lower house’s register.
Former foreign minister Schwarzenberg also bought a Jaguar for over 2.2 million and paid a mortgage of some 10.4 million crowns.
Billionaire businessman Babis, the owner of the Agrofert Group food and media concern, and Schwarzenberg, the owner of landed estates, rank among the MPs with the highest declared incomes.
Babis gained the highest revenues from the Agrofert bonds (more than 90 million in interest). Besides, he got over 23 million crowns for the sale of a piece of real estate and over 22 million as revenues from a loan.
In addition, Babis received a remuneration of about 4200 euros (an equivalent of 114,000 crowns) as a member of the SKW Stickstoffwerke Piesteritz GmbH German firm’s statutory body.
Schwarzenberg received some 34 million crowns from dividends, 18 million from the sale of land and 16 million from lease. Besides he is paid German and Austrian old-age pensions worth hundreds of thousands of crowns.
Last year, Schwarzenberg also purchased some forests and other land for about 350,000 crowns.
TOP 09 chairman Miroslav Kalousek declared no extra income last year and he did not buy anything significant either.
Junior government Christian Democrat (KDU-CSL) chairman Pavel Belobradek bought a flat for 790,000 crowns and he spent 850,000 crowns on its reconstruction and furnishings.
Communist (KSCM) leader Vojtech Filip earned about 15,000 crowns extra as a defence lawyer.
Interior Minister Milan Chovanec, first deputy head of the Social Democrats (CSSD), invested in real estate last year. He bought a half of a house for 2.2 million crowns, a flat for 3.1 million and a cottage for 0.5 million. He said he had funded the purchases from his long-term savings and the sale of shares. He also inherited real estate, some movables and money worth 4.9 million crowns in total.
Opposition Freedom and Direct Democracy movement chairman Tomio Okamura declared some eight million crowns from business activities.
The data on additional incomes of PM and CSSD chairman Bohuslav Sobotka and opposition Civic Democrat (ODS) head Petr Fiala have not been available in the register yet as their property statement are still being checked.
MPs and other senior officials had to submit their property statements for 2015 by the end of June. All deputies have done so, Miroslava Nemcova (ODS), head of the lower house mandate and immunity committee, said.
