13th to 19th of August (Pride Week)
18th of August (Parade & Concert)

The Young Professionals (TYP), Israeli megastars, will perform at the final concert of Prague Pride 2012, alongside Czech and Slovak top entertainers, such as pop diva Dara Rolins, gypsy hip hop band Bitumen Beat and soul jazz icons Toxique. Some of the best Czech & international DJs will also perform at a separate stage on the Island. The Saturday concert and the preceding parade will be a culmination of the week long LGBT festival that takes place in the capital city of Prague for the second time, from Monday the 13th to Sunday the 19th of August..

Last year Prague was the final EU capital to organise a LGBT+ Pride and its success confirmed Prague’s reputation as the most liberal city of the former Eastern bloc. This year’s Pride week will be even bigger, packed with over 80 cultural events, from human rights workshops to parties. Among others the famous London gay event BEYOND is heading to Prague and will introduce the amazing DJs Paul Heron and Jonny M, together with a vocal set by Krysten Cummings. You could also get wild at the Rainbow silent disco party at the piazzeta of the National Theatre with a splendid view of the Prague castle.

To calm down you could visit Prague’s cinemas or theatres, where LGBT+ films will be shown and comedies, circus & cabaret will be offered. Various exhibitions will be part of the Pride week, with Czech and Slovak artists focussing on LGBT+ life, where you can join a discussion with Polish transgender MP Anna Grodzka. For those who like to exercise their bodies before heading to parties a beach volleyball, football and squash tournament is being prepared. The program will be completed by city tours, picnics and debates, with various topics such as arts, politics and religion. As many events as possible will be translated into English and wheelchair accessible.

As Czeslaw Walek, the director of the festival, says: “This year we managed to put together a truly rainbow cocktail of activities where everybody can find something special. Together with 40 organizations we will introduce the Czech gay and lesbian scene to the visitors, and I am sure they will enjoy it.”

The Young Professionals consist of Ivri Lider and Johnny Goldstein. The band defines itself as follows: “We are The Young Professionals. We create something new, always based on something old. TYP tries to define a new kind of a band, with music as its main passion, alongside other talented artists in various fields.” Their music is a mixture of pop and electro, sometimes dark, sometimes upbeat.
