Prague, Dec 14 (CTK) – An exhibition of Italian Renaissance painter Tiziano Vecelli (Titian, 1485-1576), with his paintings from the Prague Castle Gallery as well as his Flora from the Uffizzi Gallery in Florence, will open on Tuesday in Prague.

At first, the exhibition was to start last April, but its beginning was three times postponed due to what organisers call complications caused by Italian authorities and the worsened security situation in Europe.

The exhibition called Tiziano – Vanitas, the Poet of the Image and Shade of Beauty will be open in the Imperial Stable at the Prague Castle complex until March 20.

Tizian’s masterpiece Young Woman at her Toilet. Curator Lionello Puppi said it is full of the ideals of Italian Renaissance will be among the paintings displayed.

At the exhibition, it is confronted with the Flora from Florence with a similar theme. The young half-naked woman, depicted as goddess Flora, was Titian’s favourite model. Her identity is still unknown.

The exhibition also includes a number of paintings loaned from a number of foreign institutions and private collections. These are primarily women’s portraits and Titian’s portraits from his later creation.

Objects from Titian’s life are also put on display.

Along with Puppi, Serena Baccaglini is the curator of the exhibition.
