Prague, May 15 (CTK) – South Korean pianist Park Jinhyung and British trumpeter Huw Morgan have won the 68th Prague Spring international music contest and they were presented with the prize carrying 200,000 crowns at a ceremony at Prague’s Old Town Hall on Sunday.
The annual competition is linked to the Prague Spring international music festival starting on May 12. It always focuses on two instruments. This year the participants competed in the piano and trumpet categories.
The two winners have been invited to perform at a concert at the Prague Spring festival next year.
Park Jinhyung, 20, was the youngest participant in the piano contest.
Sixty-two piano players from 16 countries applied for participation in the competition and all were admitted by the jury.
In the trumpet category, applications were sent by 132 players from 30 countries. The jury admitted 57 of them.
Next year, the competition will focus on the violin and harpsichord categories.
