Prague, June 25 (CTK) – Works by Orson Welles, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Miki Kaurismaeki, Peter Strickland and other world leading directors will be shown at the 41st Summer Film School festival in Uherske Hradiste, south Moravia, from July 24 to August 1, director Radana Korena said Thursday.

The biggest non-competition film festival in the Czech Republic will screen the best of Welles’s works within the celebrations of his birth centenary.

The Film and Live Music: Silent (Restored) section will offer all Alfred Hitchcock’s silent works.

Programme director Iva Hejlickova said the Spectrum/Berlin School will present a wide-ranging programme dedicated to this contemporary film phenomenon.

Fans of Polish film will see Andrzej Wajda’s films, the latest pictures made in Poland and a section focusing on Poland’s post-war developments in film.

“The guests will include one of the greatest Iranian filmmakers of the past decades, Mohsen Makhmalbaf and British director Peter Strickland, Christoph Hochhaeusler” and others, senior programmer Jan Jilek said.

He said Czech documentary filmmaker Helena Trestikova will be presented with the prize for life contribution to cinematography.

The festival will also mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

Last year, the festival was attended by a record 6247 people. More information is available at www.lfs.cz.
