The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for the Czech Republic dropped month-on-month from 54.3 to 53.6 points in April 2016, according to a survey by Markit/HSBC. The increase in production and in the number of new contracts, which achieved peak values in January, slowed down again, resulting in a weaker increase in purchasing activities. A slight increase in the number of new export contracts was visible, but at the slowest pace since mid-2013. A more positive result was the sustained robust pace of growth of job opportunities. Prices of inputs and outputs continued to drop.
