According to a more precise estimate, the Czech Republic’s gross domestic product grew 0.9% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2016. In a year-over-year comparison, this represents a 2.6% increase. The main factors for the growth of the Czech economy were strong foreign demand and stable household consumption. The positive economic development continued in the majority of local economic sectors, except for the construction sector. Gross value added was 0.9% higher quarter-on-quarter and 2.7% higher year-on-year, according to figures published by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).
