Mining company Severočeské Doly mined 99.3 million m3 of excavated mass in 2014, up 11.9% y/y. The company supplied 21.6 million tons of coal, down 9.7% y/y. The total revenues from supplied coal dropped 15%. Severočeské Doly’s board of directors member and strategy and communication director Vladimír Budinský has stated in a survey by ČIANEWS that the amount of excavated mass in 2015 will drop, due to lower removal of overburden. The company predicts that coal mining will be slightly higher than in 2014. The big challenge will be the launch of the new state-of-the-art power plant in Ledvice; the launch may be accompanied by uneven coal collection.
