Inekon Group has completed the development of a battery-driven tramway and is ready to launch serial production. According to the company, the new set was tested successfully in traffic on Ostrava Public Transit Company’s routes. The Czech tram that may run independently off the traction lines has already been purchased by the city of Seattle. The US city has entered into an agreement with Inekon Group on the delivery of seven trams worth almost USD 30m. The contract includes also an option for the acquisition of 19 more battery-driven trams. Inekon Group’s statutory director Josef Hušek has stated that the group is ready to launch serial production.
