On May 13, 2016 WITTE Automotive opened a new plant for the production of interior and exterior painted door handles in Ostrov. According to company executive Gerhard Knop, the plant will employ up to 500 people. This was reported by the Government of the Czech Republic, which added that PM Bohuslav Sobotka (ČSSD) took part in the plant´s opening.
