Otrokovice-based tyre producer Continental Barum swill open a newly renovated hall designed for the production of substitute tyres on October 11, 2016. The investment in the renovation exceeded EUR 165m (CZK 4.4bn). The number of employees in the new hall increased by 135. Besides 21.1 million units of car tyres, Continental Barum manufactured 919,000 units of truck tyres and 119,000 industrial tyres in 2015. The company plans to use 70% of the new plant’s capacities in 2016. The annual CVT tyre production capacity will likely grow up to nearly 1.6 million units.
