Prague, September 7th, 2012 – Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, has announced today a number of new hotel openings along with the refurbishment of one of its existing hotels as part of its ongoing expansion throughout Central and Eastern Europe.
As the Kempinski Hotel Hybernska in Prague continues on its successful path, having been confirmed as one of the top five ‘year-on-year’ achieving hotels in the Kempinski Hotels Group for the past financial year, the group has unveiled another ‘soon to be a star’ in Central and Eastern Europe, the newly opened Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
The Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square has an unbeatable location, right in the heart of the Old Town on a UNESCO World Heritage site, and is just a stone’s throw away from the main touristic sights. It offers 96 rooms, including 13 spacious and luxury suites, ranging in size from 32 – 46 m2, and a Presidential Suite which, at 132 m2, is the biggest suite in Vilnius, and offers its guests the very highest of security standards, including bullet proof windows, a separate butler’s kitchen and magnificent views over the city. The hotel also offers a stylish restaurant known as the “Telegrafas”, as well as the „Le Salon“ bar, a lobby lounge, and over 600 m2 of state-of-the art conference and meeting space, making it the perfect place for companies looking to develop their business in Lithuania.
The opening of the Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square Vilnius brings the Kempinski Hotels’ number of hotels in the CEE region to 9. Talking about the opening, Peter Knoll, the General Manager of the Kempinski Hotel Hybernska Prague, said:
„After my own 15 years in the CEE region, including 4 in the Baltics as General Manager of the leading hotel in Tallin, Estonia, I am very excited to see yet another wonderful Kempinski Hotel opening in this region and the first in the Baltic States. I am sure that it is going to be particularly interesting to our own market here in the Czech Republic, especially as we are able to fly directly from Prague to Vilnius three times a week with Czech Airlines.“
Another Kempinski Group hotel due to open in the region soon is the Pallais Hansen Kempinski Vienna, which will open on March 1st, 2013. Another landmarked building, the hotel will be housed in a historic palace that was built in 1869 and used as a hotel for the world exhibition in 1873 before later being converted to a residential and official building until starting a complete reconstruction in 2008. Ideally situated on the Schottenring, the Pallais Hansen Kempinski Vienna will offer 151 rooms including a 320 m2 Presidential Suite, restaurant, meeting rooms and a 280 m2 ballroom. The Pallais Hansen Kempinski Vienna will be the second Kempinski Hotel in Austria, following on the re-opening of the Hotel Das Tirol, in Kitzbühel, on 7th December, 2011.
Despite these new openings, the Kempinski Group does not forget about its existing hotels, and over the past two years it has undertaken an extensive renovation of all floors, rooms and suites in its wonderful Hotel Atlantic Kempinski Hamburg, now known as “the new Jewel in Hamburg”.
