(Press Release) Multiculturalism, integration, community, cultural diffusion, culture shock – these are the words that foreigners living in the Czech Republic – expatriates or “expats” – encounter every day. eventime has decided to make the stay in our country more pleasant for this numerous group of our neighbours, friends, colleagues, partners and acquaintances, whatever the reasons why they chose our country. The first edition of Expats Games, the biggest social/cultural event for Czechs and expatriates living in the Czech Republic, their families and friends, will take place on Saturday 25 May 2013.
Many Czechs today know the “expat” role, having played it in their lives at one point or another, be it as students, au-pairs, or simply seeking job and experience abroad. Those who have not had the opportunity, courage or urge to gain such experience firsthand will have known the feeling of togetherness with their fellow countrymen they meet on family holidays, or at least will have experienced the feeling of butterflies in the stomach when meeting a car with a Czech number plate on the motorway in France. Expats Games aim to evoke such positive emotions, make the stay in the Czech Republic more pleasant for our international co-citizens, involve them in the developments within our country, help them to find new contacts and – most importantly – entertain them. “The goal of the event is to prepare a multicultural gathering of people from various countries who have their temporary home in the Czech Republic. These people share a common topic in life and appetite for new experiences,” says Jan Plachý, the event’s organiser and eventime Managing Director, adding: “We are offering an event full of culture and the goal of its programme is, among other things, to make it easier for the participants to get to know the traditions, customs and interesting facts about each others’ countries.”
Expats Games are not meant for foreigners only. The event is intended for all those who like playing sports, having fun and spending their leisure days actively. This May event offers competitions for the individual national teams which you can come to root for, as well as an extensive sport and cultural programme for you and your children. You can expect sports tournaments, theatre performances, concerts and workshops for children.
Come to the Czech University of Life Sciences campus in Prague 6 – Suchdol on Saturday 25 May and don’t be just a viewer – get in on the action too. We are looking forward to seeing you.
