October, 2013 – Prague College is delighted to announce that its Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies (“CRIS”) has just issued its bi-annual journal which, for the first time, is being published by the Berlin-based de Gruyter group under its Versita imprint, one of the world’s leading sources of open-access academic content. Prague College, however, remains responsible for all editing and the production of what is increasingly being seen as a significant and prestigious academic journal.
CRIS was founded in order to develop interdisciplinary research across several different fields and subject areas, in order to underpin the academic curricula at Prague College, and its main purposes include the participation and discussion by means of regular interdisciplinary workshops and seminars, to encourage collaboration amongst different schools and programmes in the design and creation of multidisciplinary courses at the College and to co-operate with other educational institutions and organizations in the development of common projects of interest.
The centre was initiated by three of the College’s senior professors, including Stefano Cavagnetto, the Head of the School of Business who, talking about the centre, said:
“By combining academic study with practical training, CRIS is aiming to create an environment where personal achievement goes hand in hand with social responsibility. This offers students the chance to actively collaborate in several research areas with the support of faculty members and lecturers of the college.”
The CRIS bulletin has been published twice a year since 2010 and faculty members, lecturers and students have all been encouraged to submit their work, as have researchers from other universities. The articles reflect Prague College’s various different schools and cover a range of academic disciplines including Computing, Art, Business and Management. Included in the current issue are articles entitled:
• The Function of Open Space in Architecture Versus the Function of White Space in Graphic Design
• Is ‘Serving the World’s Poor Profitably’ Good for Business and Good for the World’s Poor?
• An Analysis of the European Debt Crisis: its Etiology, Current Status, and Possible Future Direction
• Mini Cooper: Marketing Strategy, Digital Marketing, Brand & Ethics, and
• A Quantification of The Rhythmic Qualities of Salience and Kinesis
The journal is available to all students of Prague College, as well as in six public libraries in Prague (National Library, National Museum Library, Ministry of Culture CR, Parliamentary Library, Municipal Library of Prague, LPB Library) and in all other key libraries across the Czech Republic.
