23rd January 2014 | Prague, Czech Republic Has mobile operator OpenCall lost its mind? Launching today, OpenCall is practically giving away free SIM cards + 400 kc pre-paid credit, all for the miserly sum of 200 kc.
Whereas some might say this makes no business sense at all, OpenCall is using this opportunity to demonstrate that consumers needn’t feel locked in to their current plans, rather that they have the flexibility to choose a mobile operator and tariff that suits their calling needs.
OpenCall is looking to energise the mobile industry, which is currently dominated by large international players, by offering the cheapest local and international calls on the market. Since blasting onto the Czech market late 2013, OpenCall has turned heads with its no-nonsense manner to mobile services, as well as a customer-centric approach which many feel is almost entirely lacking on the current market.
“According to a recent study, the Czech Republic has been by far the most expensive mobile services of all European Union countries,” states Vincent Charollais, Managing Director of OpenCall Czech Republic. “At OpenCall, we don’t believe that customers should pay through the nose for a service that is, for all intents and purposes, a basic human right of the 21st century.”
With this new campaign, OpenCall is lowering the barrier for mobile penetration significantly as well as giving people with mobile plans a viable alternative to the bigger networks. A supporting marketing campaign is running on the OpenCall website (OpenCall.cz) as well as through seznam.cz and the Iprima platform.
“Never again should consumers feel forced to choose one mobile operator over another. OpenCall gives customers the very freedom they are looking for and a chance to make the cheapest local and international calls on the market,” concludes Charollais.
Within the first three months of operation, OpenCall already made a name for itself as the first operator to offer the same price / min for calls to either the Czech Republic or Slovakia, a product which launched on Czechoslovak Independence Day in October 2013, to “help our Czech and Slovak brothers feel like one country again”.
