Press Release: Prague, January 30, 2013 – Kempinski Hotel Hybernská, one of Prague’s leading luxury hotels, suggests that there is now some cause for optimism throughout the hotel industry, as itreviews 2012 and outlines its expectations for 2013.

Despite the hospitality industry’s generally slow recovery from the ongoing economic and Eurozone crisis, the Kempinski Hotel Hybernská saw an increase in its average room revenue by 20.2%, compared to an average of 8.9% for the Czech market as a whole. The hotel was fully booked over the unseasonably warm holiday season, and is seeing a greater than average occupation rate into the first months of 2013.

Part of the reason for this popularity can be attributed to the hotel and its restaurant continuing to win a list of prestigious awards, with the Kempinski’s Le Grill being given the highest ranking in the prestigious Maurer’s Choice Grand Restaurant Guide, as well as placing in the top five of the Gault Millaut Guide’s best restaurants in the Czech Republic. The Kempinski Hotel Hybernská Prague has also been named one of the “Top 25 Luxury Hotels” in TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards for 2013, while the hotel’s culinary expertise was showcased internationally, as head Pastry Chef, Karolína Kocincová, helped the Czech team to take home a bronze medal in the 2012 IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany.

One of the biggest reasons for the Kempinski Hotel’s growing popularity is its reputation as a place for high-end art and fashion. This past year saw the continuation of the hotel’s successful vernissages, where some of the Czech Republic’s best known artists, sculptors and photographers have been showcased. Highlights included Michal Halva and Pavel Tasovský, as well as acclaimed photographer, Jadran Šetlík, whose portraits of several well known Czech personalities, saw a lot of interest.

Celebrity endorsements of the hotel were also not uncommon over the past year, with the Kempinski accommodating guests from Sir Bob Geldof and Julio Iglasias to the King of Sweden. Guests over the New Year were also delighted by a performance by the Russian soprano, Svetlana Feodulova, who performed live at the Kempinski’s Russian Christmas.

The General Manager of the Kempinski Hotel Hybernská Prague, Peter Knoll, commented:

“Winning awards and welcoming celebrity guests are really just the icing on the cake. We are constantly trying to improve the quality of our services, develop ever more ambitious menus and offer more beauty and entertainment to our guests. The fact that more and more people are noticing our hard work and dedication is proof that we are doing something right!”

As part of Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, it is very important for the Kempinski Hotel Hybernská Prague to continue to offer support and the highest standards of training for its staff, which it does through its highly ranked HR strategy. In 2013, the Kempinski will continue to organize its “Career Bus” to take up to 10 aspiring hotel professionals to the annual Kempinski Career Day in Munich, in order to give them the chance to be offered a position in a fantastic Kempinski Hotel anywhere in the world. In the first two years of the Kempinski Career Day, two young Czech employees have been given the chance to work in a Kempinski Hotel in a location of their choice, and there is no reason to suppose that 2013 will not be a case of third time lucky for one of the attendees.

Talking about the Kempinski’s human resource programme, Peter Knoll commented:

“I think that strong HR programmes are one of the best things you can do for your hotel in this market. In this industry, good customer service is by far the most valued aspect of a guest’s experience, and a happy employee who feels valued and excited about their future in this profession is far more likely to share that excitement and enthusiasm with our guests. Programmes like the Career Day, Employee Christmas and Employee Appreciation Day are all indispensable to our business.”

The Kempinski is looking forward to continuing to develop its unique standing in the Prague hotel market in 2013 with more from the world of arts, entertainment and haut cuisine.
