The first batch of Pilsner Urquell was brewed in the first week of October 1842. This year, it is the 175th anniversary, and brewer Plzeňský prazdroj is throwing a bigger than normal celebration, called PilsnerFest, on Oct. 7 at the brewery and at náměstí Republiky, the nearby streets and at Štruncovy sady in Plzeň.
