Prague, April 20th, 2015: If you are planning on running in the Volkswagen Marathon Weekend on May 2-3, why not think about running for Tým Odvahy and do something good for children at the same time? Tým Odvahy raises funds to enable seriously ill children from the Czech Republic to attend the Bátor Tábor summer camps in Hungary, so every step that you take on your run, is a step nearer to giving an unwell child what can sometimes be a life-changing experience.
As this year’s marathon is already sold out, Tým Odvahy is looking for runners that have already registered to take part, whether in the marathon itself or as a team, and who are ready to make their journey even more worthwhile by persuading friends and colleagues to sponsor them in their endeavour. The team works like many other popular charity runs around the world, such as “Team for Kids” in the New York City Marathon, or charities working with the Virgin Money London Marathon Group – one of the biggest fundraising events in the world.
Simply find friends, family members or businesses willing to donate a few crowns for each kilometre you run, and those pledges will be used to send seriously ill Czech children from the oncology centres in Prague and Brno to the Bator Tabor summer camps, which will be held this year from June 27 to July 04 and from July 25 to August 01. If you have ever felt that you needed a bit of an extra “push” during a run, you will certainly feel an extra boost of energy knowing that you are running to make a difference!
Talking about Bator Tabor and, in particular, Tým Odvahy, Katarína Koščíková, the Development Manager of the Bator Tabor Foundation said:
“We want to give as many unwell children as possible the opportunity to take part in our summer camps this year. Right now we have 17 runners registered to support us, who, together, will raise nearly 175,000 CZK! Of course, the more runners we have, the more children we can help by giving them the wonderful experience of the Bator Tabor summer camp.”
