Prague, Sept 18 (CTK) – Much more runners than the maximum limit of 10,000 may take part in the 22nd Prague International Marathon that will be held in May 2016 because people will be able to join the run virtually, the marathon’s director Vaclav Skrivanek has told CTK.

He said this is a way to increase the capacity of the race.

Thanks to an electronic application, people may run the Prague race course on a treadmill and they will see the real environment on their computer, television, iPhone or iPad. The treadmill runners just have to pay 10 euros for the downloading of the race track.

“The first Prague digital marathon is innovative not only in our country but all over the world,” Skrivanek said.

He said the application has been working in the iOS system and a version for Android is being developed.

RunSocial application’s creator Marc Hardy said he will try to complete the Android version before the next race scheduled for May 8, 2016.

The digital marathon may be run on any type of treadmill. The results of the virtual race will be officially announced, including those who begin running on the treadmill at the moment of the official start of the race.
