Prague, Nov 27 (CTK) – The painting Atelier by Czech artist Josef Sima (1891-1971) fetched 29 million crowns including the auction surcharge in Prague today, which is the author’s record at domestic auctions, Tereza Donne, curator of the Galerie Kodl which organised the auction, told CTK.
Donne said with its total turnout of almost 180 million crowns, today’s auction was the biggest in the history of the Czech Republic.
The prices Sima’s works fetch at auctions in the Czech Republic are among the highest.
The price for Atelier was almost twice as high as the reserve price.
Sima’s previous auction record was 14.6 million crowns for his painting Leda with a Swan auctioned in 2008
