President Václav Klaus Wednesday played down the significance of the fall of the Czech government, half way through the country’s EU presidency. “The fall of the government is not something unknown or catastrophic in a constitutional system that works,” he said in a brief address at his official residence in Prague. He said the situation “will be resolved” with “no overturning of our orientation adopted in November” 1989, when the communist regime was toppled.
