Prague, Nov 28 (CTK) – Czech President Milos Zeman´s stance on refugees is disgusting and Zeman stood on the stage along with those who resume the work of Nazi collaborator and Czech wartime propaganda minister Emanuel Moravec, TOP 09 outgoing chairman Karel Schwarzenberg said during TOP 09´s congress on Saturday.

It is horrible to see the president on the platform with people who claim allegiance to Moravec´s legacy rather than the legacy of the first Czech president Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, Schwarzenberg said.

On the national holiday of November 17, Zeman made a speech at a political meeting of his supporters who were also addressed by Martin Konvicka, leader of the extremist Bloc Against Islam movement. Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka strongly criticised Zeman for this, labelling him a populist sponging on fear of refugees.

Zeman repeatedly warns against immigrants and Islam. Among others, he said nobody invited the refugees to the Czech Republic and he claimed that the refugees would not respect the Czech legislation and customs.

Zeman and Schwarzenberg clashed in the final round of the direct presidential election in January 2013.

Schwarzenberg said Saturday the refugees must be helped as they were fleeing from murderers.

He appreciated the work of Czech volunteers who provided aid to refugees at the borders of Serbia, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and elsewhere. “They are saving the honour of our country,” he said.

The 78-year-old aristocrat Schwarzenberg, who was foreign minister in two governments between 2007 and 2013, had a farewell speech at the TOP 09 election congress as he is not running for the post anymore.
