Mikuláš Bek, rector of the Masaryk University in Brno, won the first round of the Senate elections in the Brno Senate district No. 59, otherwise known as Brno-město, with nearly 40% of the vote. Jaromír Ostrý, the candidate for ANO, received around 20% less. Both candidates qualify for the second round.
