Prague, Dec 8 (CTK) – Miloslav Ludvik, who was recently appointed Czech health minister, defended the post of chairman of the Prague branch of the Social Democratic Party (CSSD), being supported by 99 out of the 160 delegates in the vote on Thursday.
His rival for the post was Pavel Jaros.
The CSSD Prague branch nominated Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Interior Minister Milan Chovanec for the posts of party chairman and first deputy chairman, respectively.
Sobotka and Chovanec will be defending their posts at the CSSD national congress in March 2017.
Czech media speculated that Sobotka decided to make Ludvik health minister in order to win support from the Prague branch for his position of party leader.
