Coalition roads spat halts budget talks

The Cabinet was forced to postpone discussions aimed at finalising the govt’s planned 2012 budget for the second week in a row after a dispute within the coalition over funding for roads and motorway construction. Public Affairs blocked talks on the budget and a separate deal seeking to compensate the Catholic Church and other religious groups for property confiscated by the former communist regime unless the govt agreed to a major hike in roads funding next year.
