Prague, Jan 15 (CTK) – Jiri Drahos, who ended second in the first round of the Czech direct presidential election this weekend and advanced to the runoff together with incumbent President Milos Zeman, will start the new round of his campaign in the Moravia-Silesia Region, his spokeswoman told CTK on Monday.
On Tuesday, Drahos, who is former Academy of Sciences chairman, will tour the region’s centre Ostrava and the towns of Jablunkov and Trinec, where he will visit an ice-hockey game, his spokeswoman Katerina Prochazkova said.
Drahos will be accompanied by his wife Eva.
He will leave Prague for Ostrava by train, and he will return by car.
In Moravia-Silesia, a region in the northeastern part of the Czech Republic, he wants to meet voters and also visit the semifinal of the ice-hockey Champions’ League in which the local team Ocelari Trinec will face the Finnish team JYP Jyvaskyla.
The game in the Werk Arena in Trinec will start at 17:00.
Drahos will stop over in Jablunkov, the town he comes from and where he announced his decision to run for president last year.
After it became clear on Saturday that he is advancing to the second round of the election, Drahos said he wants to spend the time left before the January 26-27 runoff mainly touring regions to persuade still hesitating voters.
He also wants to face his rival candidate, Zeman, in television debates, he said.
It is not yet clear which TV station will host the debates.
