Prague, Oct 20 (CTK) – The executive committee of the Czech opposition TOP 09 supported Miroslav Kalousek as the party leader at its meeting devoted to the party’s recent failure in recent regional and Senate elections on Thursday.
Kalousek then told journalists that based on the view of the crushing majority of his closest fellow party members he insisted on his decision to stay at the head of TOP 09 and to lead it for the elections to the Chamber of Deputies.
Kalousek said there was no vote, but he wanted to hear the view of his fellow party members.
“There were tens of us and three-quarters of them were of the firm view that I should keep my post,” he added.
After the elections, Kalousek refused to resign, although he called the result a loss.
Kalousek said TOP 09 had decided to speed up its work on the report it wanted to unveil as Vision of the Czech Republic in 2030 in January.
TOP 09 only defended 19 mandates in the regional assemblies in the regional elections.
