The Czech reform-mind conservative government asked lawmakers to expedite the passage of austerity bills by Parliament through a fast-track process to prevent any stalling of the measures at the opposition-controlled upper house, Prime Minister Petr Nečas said Tuesday. “It’s evident that the Czech Republic could face serious economic damage if these laws aren’t going to take effect January 1,” he told a televised news conference.
