The Czech Eagles team had a great long weekend in Bucharest, with success on the pitch as well as a great tourist experience off-field.

The Eagles team is Czech Cricket’s “national developmental” squad, comprised mainly of young, talented Czech cricketers. Team manager Chris Pearce set the tone and led all run-scorers for the weekend, but Lukáš Fencl (68*) and Mik Starý (51) recorded the highest individual scores.

Luki also picked up five wickets over the course of the weekend to lead the bowlers, along with five for Gary Pettman also, while Benji Souček, captain Dany Hudeček and 20-year-old Oliver Matoušek notched four apiece.

The tour schedule was slightly affected by rain in Bucharest, but the Eagles played the Romanian Bears in a 30-over match on Saturday, claiming a five-wicket victory. On Sunday, the teams played two 20-over matches, winning one each.

The field in Prague is closed next weekend, so local eyes remain fixed on the international scene, as the Czech Lions squad (the full national team) travel to Vienna for a T20 friendly on Sunday afternoon. Full details on www.czechcricket.cz
