Prague, June 30 (CTK) – The Czech Football Association (FACR) has not extended the contract with Jakub Dovalil, 41, coach of the national under-21 team that expires Tuesday after the team was eliminated in the regular group at the current European Cup contested in the Czech Republic.

“Our dream of the team advancing to the semifinal did not materialise, but the players as well as the whole accompanying team well represented Czech football abroad,” FACR chairman Miroslav Pelta said in a press release.

“We are cutting cooperation with coach Dovalil now, but I do not rule out possible cooperation in the future,” Pelta wrote.

Dovalil’s successor has not yet been announced, but the FACR executive committee will discuss the matter this afternoon.

It is speculated that Vitezslav Lavicka, who already worked with the under-21 team in the past, could return to it.

Dovalil trained the under-21 team since November 2008, the longest time a coach led it in its history. The players advanced to the European semifinal four years ago.

Dovalil also won the silver medals with the under-17 team in 2006 and bronze with the under-19 team in 2008.
