The Czech Republic’s very own Super Bowl is upon us

In mid-July Prague’s Synot Tip Arena will host the grand finale of the Czech League of American Football’s 2014 season – the local version of the USA’s Super Bowl.

The two best Czech American Football teams that have made it all the way to the final stage of the 2014 season will battle it out on the field on Tuesday 15 July to be crowned the Czech League of American Football’s annual champions.

Founded in 1994, this year marks the 21st will see the winners of the semi-finals, which take place on 5 – 6 July between Prague Black Panthers versus Trnava Bulldogs and Příbram Bobcats versus Prague Lions, fight it out.

As with past years the game will be full of thrills, suspense, emotions running high, tough players willing to give it their all to see their team win the championships and, of course, loyal fans and lovely cheerleaders supporting their teams.

The game kicks off at 6:30 pm, though from 4 pm fans can learn about what American football and cheerleading in the Czech Republic is all about at the arena’s Football Test Centre with the opportunity to throw and kick an American football, try on uniforms and helmets and see examples of cheerleader’s routines and stunts.

Before the game starts there will be an exhibition of flag football, which is a contactless version of American football, a cheerleading show, a performance of the Czech national anthem by the talented concert singer Lenka Šmídová-Farkačová and a coin toss overseen by Prague 10’s mayor Mgr. Bohumila Zoufalík.

During half time, fans will see a spectacular mega cheer show from cheerleaders and a spectator’s competition awards ceremony where some lucky fans will win prizes that include holidays in the Austrian Alps generously donated by the game’s sponsors.

The closing of the game will see the winning team of the finals awarded the Czech American Football League’s 2014 trophy and a magnificent fireworks display.

The arena gates open at 5 pm, with the pre-game programme starting at 6 pm before a 6:30 pm kick off. Supporters of Prague Black Panthers or Trnava Bulldogs are advised to sit in sectors 101 – 103, and fans of either Příbram Bobcats or Prague Lions should sit in sectors 128 – 130.

Standard tickets are 200 CZK, though discounted tickets are available and admission for disabled spectators, senior citizens and children is free. VIP tickets that include entrance to the club floor and the option of beverages or catering are price between 499 CZK and 799 CZK per person.
