Prague, July 9 (CTK) – Vitezslav Lavicka has been named the new coach of the Czech football national under-21 team, replacing Jakub Dovalil who left the post after the Czech team did not advance from its group at the European under-21 championship.
Lavicka, 52, signed a contract for coaching the team during the qualification for the next European under-21 championship.
Lavicka coached the under-21 team already in 2007-08.
As coach, Lavicka won the top Czech league with Liberec (2006) and Sparta Praha (2014) and the Australian league with Sydney (2010).
Dovalil coached the national under-21 team from late 2008. He led the team longer than any other coach. In 2011, the team played the semifinal of the under-21 Euro under his coaching.
At the recent under-21 Euro played in the Czech Republic, the Czech team lost to Denmark 1-2, beat Serbia 4-0 and drew with Germany 1-1.
