The Czech Republic on Tuesday urged its European Union partners to take joint action against Canada after it re-introduced visas for its nationals over a steady influx of Roma asylum applicants. “The foreign minister will start steps towards launching a solidarity clause,” under which all EU countries could introduce visas for Canadians, Czech Prime Minister Jan Fischer told reporters. The EU ruled out any immediate action although it called on Canada to abandon the requirement.
