Prague, July 30 (CTK) – The Czech Republic will provide 22.5 million crowns for the prestigious U.S. University of California (UCLA) in Los Angeles in the next three years to hold conferences on the situation in the Middle east in Prague, the government approved on Wednesday night.
The proposal was submitted by the Foreign Ministry.
Other countries, such as the United States, Finland and Netherlands, will also support the organisation of the conferences in the Czech capital.
In 2016-2018, the Czech Republic will annually allocate 7.5 million crowns to the UCLA’s plan.
“The conferences will focus on the current problems of the region, for instance, the Middle-East peace process, Libya, Yemen and Syria,” the Foreign Ministry told CTK.
These events will be a suitable platform for an opinion exchange between diplomats, academics, politicians and security experts.
“Financial support for conferences and their holding in Prague are in harmony with the foreign political accents of the Czech Republic and they are a Czech contribution to unofficial diplomacy that is purposeful and efficient in the turbulent and sensitive Middle-East area,” the ministry said.
