Prague, Sept 23 (CTK) – The Czech Republic has offered Hungary assistance in guarding the Schengen border, Defence Minister Martin Stropnicky (ANO) said Wednesday, adding that the ministry together with the military are analysing what they could provide for the country.

According to CTK’s information, equipment to guard the border together with dozens of people to man it are being considered.

“We are in contact with the Hungarians. They lack some equipment for border protection. We are working on how we could help them,” Stropnicky wrote on Twitter.

“We would like to express our solidarity in practical terms, too,” Stropnicky told CTK.

In the past, it was talked about that the Czech military could provide special equipment to monitor people’s movement in connection with the migration crisis.

The Defence Ministry announced Wednesday that the military would be ready to deploy up to 5000 soldiers to protect the Czech border in case of escalation of the migration crisis.

The Czech Republic is also prepared to send a limited number of soldiers to handle the situation in detention camps in crisis places.

Wednesday, the military started to train building a humanitarian camp at the military grounds in Libava, north Moravia. The preventive action is to check its abilities to cope with a possible strong migration wave.
