Prague, Oct 2 (CTK) – The Czech Republic proposes a joint effort of the Visegrad Four countries (V4, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) to protect the Schengen border in Hungary, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said Friday.
The details will be discussed by the V4 interior ministers, Sobotka said.
On Thursday, representatives of the Hungarian government discussed the plan to defend jointly the border.
“Our government is ready to help Hungary with the protection of the Schengen border,” Sobotka said.
“We are proposing a joint action of the V4 countries. Details will be discussed by interior ministers,” Sobotka said, without elaborating.
Head of the office of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Janos Lazar, informed about the preparation for a joint defence of the borer.
He said Prime Minister Viktor Orban was taking the relevant diplomatic steps, but, he, too, did not elaborate.
The Czech Republic has repeatedly offered help to Hungary over the migration crisis.
Chief of staff Josef Becvar said recently the Czech Republic would send 20 soldiers, transport equipment, a field kitchen and an earth borer to Hungary.
The soldiers and the equipment are supposed to stay in Hungary for two months, as of about October 15.
