Sochi, Russia, Oct 22 (CTK) – Former Czech president Vaclav Klaus believes that the current problems stem more from the West than from the East, he said in an address at the Valdai Discussion Club in Sochi where one of the other speakers Thursday was Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Klaus said the greatest threat to peace, freedom and democracy is not the Islamic State, Al-Qaeda, terrorists, or the Brussels, Washington or Moscow bureaucrats.
The problem of those who felt threatened by the current developments like him was that “we are weak, opportunistic and indecisive,” he said in the written text of his address posted on his website.
“We are not determined to stop the multiculturalist crusade against Western civilisation. We are not ready to defend our values, our culture, our religion, our life-styles. We are not ready to sacrifice our relatively comfortable life and start fighting for freedom and democracy,” Klaus said.
He said Russia was not immune from these dangers either.
Klaus repeatedly rejected “the failed -isms,” mentioning humanrightism, environmentalism, homosexualism, cosmopolitism, multiculturalism and transnationalism.
He said the only reliable guarantor and guardian of democracy was “the nation-state.”
