Prague, Nov 28 (CTK) – The Czech Republic is facing no terrorist threat according to available information, and there is no need to cancel traditional events and people should not let unreasonable fear spoil their Christmas holidays, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said after a cabinet meeting Saturday night.
The directors of all the three intelligence services as well as the police president and the interior minister assured the government on Saturday that there was no information about a terrorist threat or attack on Czech territory, Sobotka said.
The cabinet meeting was held in connection with the security measures introduced over the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
The reinforced security measures would be maintained, but it was due to the worsened security situation in France and Belgium, not because of the situation in the Czech Republic, Sobotka said.
“We mustn´t underestimate anything, yet it seems to me that we definitely don´t need any hysteria, any succumbing to fear to take steps that would have no reason,” he said.
Interior Minister Milan Chovanec said the Czech Republic had no security problems in relation to migration and that no fighter for the Islamic State group returned to the country.
The migrant crisis culminated in the Czech Republic in summer, Chovanec said.
Only a small part of the capacity of the Czech detention facilities for refugees is being used, he said.
On November 8, the National Security Council will discuss the security measures again.
